Top print trends for 2021

Top print trends for 2021

Across all industries, a new year brings new opportunities, insights and predictions. After the impact of Covid-19, it’s not surprising that many sectors have had to find different ways of working, which has resulted in some interesting developments.

So with this in mind, we’ve created our list of the top trends and predictions for the print world in 2021, and beyond:

1.SUSTAINABLE AND ECO-FRIENDLY FOCUS

Going green is more than a trend – it’s a conscious decision and a necessity. Whilst some think the printing industry is behind on its green credentials, the reality is quite the opposite. We’re able to advise clients on innovative and eco-friendly stocks which can actually do good for our planet. From 100% recycled paper to seed and wild flower paper, we can print on almost any sustainable substrate. We’re also a certified partner of the Carbon Capture® Programme which supports the Woodland Trust and our collective mission to mitigate CO2 emissions.

2.PERSONALISATION

If lockdowns 1, 2 and 3 taught us anything, it’s that sending a personalised message or gift was one of the best ways to stay in touch or let loved ones know we were thinking of them. Whether it’s a beautifully printed box with cocktail kit inside, or a get well soon card with a photo of happier times, a tactile delivery through the door was something that raised a smile. We’d like to see this continue well into 2021, and can help our clients create anything from bespoke boxes to company branded cards.

3.HIGH QUALITY AT HIGH SPEED

With new supply chains and advances in technology, you can (and should) have both. At maxim this has always been part of the service, so you could say we’re ahead of the trend. While we handle the quality thanks to our in-house Indigo Press and extensive range of finishing equipment, our trusted delivery partners such as Gophr always go above and beyond to get your print to you no matter the deadline.

4.PROPER PACKAGING

Plastic is out. Environmentally friendly paperboard is in. From food packaging to fast moving consumer goods, what our products arrive in is just as important the products themselves. From a marketing perspective, packaging also plays a vital role in building brand affinity, plus, the rise of ‘Unboxing’ doesn’t seem to be diminishing anytime soon, so ensuring your packaging is the highest quality should be top of your list.

5.IT’S ALL IN THE DETAIL

When you think of print, the first thing that springs to mind could be something like posters and brochures. But some of the most intricate elements of print design are often overlooked, such as die cutting, foiling and biodegradable lamination. These beautiful elements are what makes great print stand out, and as the need for eye-catching packaging grows, so too will the micro details that make them unique.
